Jason Corrigan, former Oneonta mayoral candidate and SUNY Oneonta student, was recently arrested for harrasment and forcible touching. Both winner of the Oneonta mayor race, Dick Miller, and an undisclosed 20-year old reported that he harassed them, verbally and sexually, respectively. The two people he harassed equals .01 percent of all those who voted for him. While that number may seem small, I'm dividing 2 by the 177 people who voted for him. The Daily Star had Mr. Corrigan saying this:
Since I did not win the election, I have returned to being a student and private citizen, and have absolutely no impact or influence on the community or its direction,'' Corrigan said in his statement. "My personal life has nothing to do with Oneonta anymore, and I would appreciate respect and privacy on behalf of the local media outlets just as any other private citizen would.
Damn, he could have been our mayor!
UPDATE! I misspoke (or is it mistyped?) earlier. Mr. Corrigan did not harass Dick Miller, but former Oneonta mayor Kim Muller. Everyone makes mistakes...mine didn't involve the police, though.
Haaaahahaha.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Kudos to him for running! However, once a public figure, one has to understand the severity of the fish bowl syndrome. Because he threw himself out there, he is victim to everybody's eyes. Just because he (embarrassingly) lost the election does not mean he is now free from the limelight. He fucked up...big time. So just because he ran and lost, he should no longer be made an example of? He sounds like a sore loser...his "personal life doesn't have to do with Oneonta anymore."
ReplyDeleteHis running for mayor in no way, shape, or form should effect the validity of his testicles. What does effect it is the manner he carries himself, and sexually harassing women does not demonstrate having a real pair.
I'm not gay, thus, not a fag. You mean stupid people, not gay people. Don't be ignorant.
It is true, I didn't see anyone else run for mayor or even try to step up for the students.
ReplyDeleteObviously we are not meant to be professional on such a shotty blog because Corrigan hasn't even been to court yet, so why don't we wait for this to be decided before we think he has no balls... As a guy, there have been plenty of girls who have lied about this stuff and it would make sense if Kim approached her since the dates of the complaints are next to each other.
And I am glad you voted for Dick, at least you can feel better about electing a guy who took tax money and did nothing with the job he was supposed to do with downtown development.
Let's not forget how Miller also told a girl who was raped at Hartwick that she was a liar besides providing medical reports, all to save face for himself and Hartwick. So yea, thank god we are surrounded by the best!
I am not sure how it is embarassing to be the first student to run for public office. And 188 votes is what he actually recieved, which is 12% of the vote and great for a first election going against a former college president and a city councilman.
ReplyDeleteI think Charming Guy should count how many votes they got...Oh wait they didn't run. Ok, then count how many votes they got for running for SA president...That didn't happen either. Then how about how many votes they received when they were elected club president...That didn't happen either. Hmmm, it doesn't seem like you know too much or have balls yourself to step up and try to make a change.
Wow corrigan should never run for office again since he lost. It's not like Ralph Nader, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, and every other person who lost an election in their life continued on and made an impact.
ReplyDelete"Damn, he could have been our mayor."
ReplyDeleteYa know who couldn't have been our mayor? The jackass who spent his time writing blogs instead if running for mayor.
Let's stop talking and take over already.
ReplyDelete1. If you live in this shithole for the year you can register to vote.
2. There are 5,200 registered voters (dems, rep, ind).
3. There are 7,500 students who can vote not registered. That's between both colleges.
4. Only 2,300 people voted in the mayoral election (my numbers might be a bit off).
5. If you nice students want to own this town you could make it happen in a 24 hour period next election.
But here is the best part, you can run for Alderman, Mayor, and any other elected position.
Really, think about it....it's quite funny and easily obtainable. In just 24 hours for every upcoming election we could take over the City of Oneonta and kick all the old losers out of office.
Power is what you have, and you can swing that mighty sword. Just imagine an entire city legislated by students. FUCKING AWESOME !!!

ReplyDeletePronoun agreement. This Charming Man (not Guy) is a he, not a they. Unless, of course, you are calling me a charming guy, but if that is the case, there is no need to capitalize. Thanks for the compliment!
Also, I never said I should have ran for mayor over Mr. Corrigan, so counting the votes I received is an absurd task. It would be zero, duh. I also never tried to run for SA. But, alas, I should attempt a go at politics in order to critique, right? The Anderson Cooper/Wolf Blitzer ticket of '04 was a bust, but hey, now they can be pundits!! It's good to see the O'Reilly/Beck campaign starting up. At least they have the right to bash politicians now.

It was never said he should drop out of politics. Mr. Corrigan was quoted as saying his personal life has nothing to do with Oneonta anymore. After Clinton lost, did she suddenly disappear from the spotlight? Did Gore? Do any major politicians go cold-turkey after a loss? There aren't any I can think of off the top of my head, but I could be wrong. If I am, then I rescind this comment.

He could have been our mayor, I didn't lie. I couldn't have been our mayor, because I didn't run. I didn't run for mayor because I don't think I should hold such a position.
The difference is that the girl who was raped, had medical evidence and provided that to Dick Miller.
ReplyDeleteEVIDENCE IS KEY there my friend.
Providing medical evidence and some girl making a statement that jason touched her are two completely different things.
And if Corrigan did call Muller, who cares politicians fight all the time and it's not the crime of the century, not even close to what mainstream politicians have done.
Forget about Corrigan, Kim Muller and her angry tooth bearing snatch is a far more interesting subject.
ReplyDeleteRumor has it that she takes students to the bristles in their dorm rooms. If you have pictures guys or stories let's have em'.
Corrigan is boring in person and on a blog...Kim's a MILF that deserves some real coverage.
I love the ass clown who wrote, "everyone makes mistakes but mine didn't involve the police."
ReplyDeleteYou probably have a vagina the size of Texas writing on a blog instead of running for mayor. Did it ever occur to you that Oneonta is a small back woods town? Or that we already know the police are corrupt so why wouldn't their boss be?
Did it occur to you that Corrigan exposed a lot of information that made Kim look like a crook?
Hmmm maybe they filed a complaint to discredit him.... Wow what a thought!!!
Charming Guy is prolly in Phi Psi, cause I think I can see this true rainbow colors coming through in his writing.
ReplyDeleteHow about we just move on from Corrigan shall we?
ReplyDelete"a vagina the size of Texas"... Hmm. If that comment doesn't discredit you then I suppose nothing I or anyone else could write can. Well, props for capitalizing Texas.
ReplyDeleteThis Charming Man has every right to criticize and comment on Corrigan. We all do. It's part of being accountable to the people who can endorse you with their vote.
And endorse him the people didn't. At the end of the day maybe all of your anger would be better spent on the student body, who could have easily tipped the election...but didn't.
Oh, and discrediting someone is a more effective campaign tactic if it happens before the election...not a month after. Just sayin'
You were right about writing on a blog being easier than running for mayor though! I imagine looking for blog posts to yell at is probably easier too. Cheers!
You say that as you write on a blogpost.
ReplyDeleteAnd yea, we have a right to comment on our elected officials and those who run for office.
But we don't have the right to speculate what may have happened, or didn't happen, as if we know for sure.
People complain about those who stand up for Corrigan, and vice versa. Why don't you all just grow up and move on.
Just how stupid would it be for you to say he is a horrible person, and it to turn out that he is innocent or that his charges were dropped?
ReplyDeleteIf he is guilty with Kim and not with the girl, does that make him a scumbag too, or just a pissed off candidate who lost?
Why do you even care? He didn't affect you and you probably didn't vote.
If by speculate, you mean read an article in the Daily Star and then wrote a blogspot post concerning it, including quotes that Mr. Corrigan said, and Daily Star's reported facts, then yes, I speculated BIG TIME!
ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldn't feel stupid at all if the charges were dropped. It's still Jason Corrigan. I'd feel worse if I were him.
What a joke this all is. I don't know Jason, but I do know it takes more balls to do what he did than post on an "unoffical" blog.
ReplyDeleteGrow up Rick, no one cares about the SA.
What type of person says that they don't care whether or not someone is guilty or has had false charges brought against them?
ReplyDeleteI think you need to look beyond yourself and think about whether that judgment makes you a good person or not.
Turned out it wasn't anything serious at all, all criminal charges were dropped.
ReplyDeleteJason's book comes out next summer, I can't wait to see what information he prints about the cops here.
ReplyDeleteMore bad news for the OPD.
