Kevin Devine's coming to SUNY Oneonta

Music Industry Club Welcome Back Show:

Kevin Devine
Thursday, January 22nd, 2009
Hunt Union Waterfront Cafe
5:30PM
$5 students / $7 non-students
(openers to be announced)

A singer/songwriter from Brooklyn, New York, Kevin Devine is releasing his upcoming album, Brother's Blood, on Favorite Gentlemen Records in February 2009. This is the follow-up album to 2006's Put Your Ghost To Rest (released on Capitol, re-released on Procrastinate Music Traitors) and his fourth full-length album as a solo artist after his days in the band Miracle of 86. Recently, Kevin has played shows and toured with Rachel Yamagata, Owen, Matt Pryor (Get Up Kids), Jesse Lacey (Brand New), and an impossibly long list of other artists. This December, Kevin will be on tour with Manchester Orchestra once again.

For those of you who don't know who Kevin Devine is or haven't heard of his music, I've created a list of reasons you should attend this show in a Youtube Guide to Kevin Devine:
  1. These two new songs with the God Damn Band (his full band) are phenomenal: My Brother's Blood & Carnival.
  2. Some other recommendations: All of Everything Erased, Cotton Crush, Brooklyn Boy, Ballgame, Trouble, Yr Damned Old Dad, Noose Dressed Like a Necklace, Go Haunt Someone Else.
  3. He wrote a ton of political songs way before we all got interested in Obama.
  4. He does a variety of cool cover songs: Elliott Smith, Sinead O'Connor, Nada Surf.
  5. He has awesome dance moves.
  6. And tells weird stories.

  2. I fucking adore Kevin Devine. The first time I saw him I had no clue who he was and I was absolutely blown away. I've been to countless number of shows and that was the only time that's ever happened. I'm pumped to see him again, four years later when I know his material like the back of my hand.
