I'll tell ya what really grinds my gears: Having giant chunks of my life wasted by having a Librarian droll on for an hour or more about how to use the Library's search engines.
Seriously, just how many god damned times am I going to have to go through this?! I feel like it's been once for almost every class I've ever taken here. So considering this is my third year that means 20 times. 20.
Is it important that we all know the myriad of search engines available to us as SUCO students? Of course. However, it is absolutely not necessary for the Librarians to go through some sort of bastardized version of an Oxy-clean infomercial on "how to" actually use the damned search engines.
We all grew up with the information super-highway and we all know how to use a search engine. In fact, I can recall at least one time during every boring Librarian lecture I've ever sat through where the Librarian herself utterly failed at what she was trying to teach us to do!
So then, you might ask, what's my big idea on how they can reconcile this horrible situation? Well you know those yellow instruction sheets they always hand out before these things that list pretty much everything they walk you through? Just hand those out and let us go to town, freakin' DUH.
