So I believe it was around 2AM last night, when I had been tossing and turning for about 2 hours already that I gained a little bit of perspective and understanding.
For those who have no idea what in the hell I'm talking about let me be more clear. I'm referring to the unbelievable wind gusts that pounded this town last night. The noise and literal shaking of my dorm room kept me awake till literally around 4AM. So here's the perspective I speak of:
Those wind gusts were freaking me out, but they were absolutely nothing compared to the terrifying Hurricanes that have swept through Haiti, Cuba, and the Gulf Coast in the last few weeks. Think about it. Some of us get nervous when the wind makes that threatening whistle noise as it blows past our open windows, but imagine how people in Houston felt when Hurricane Ike's winds were blowing away bits of Reliant Stadium's roof. Crazy stuff.
My thoughts go out to all of the people down there picking up the pieces. Here's hoping we've seen the worst of this year's Hurricane season.
